Buntain Insurance Agencies Ltd & Dunbar Insurance Agency Ltd. have developed a Privacy Policy to help you understand our use of your personally identifiable information and how we strive to protect it.

What is Personal Information ?

The term "personal information" refers to information that specifically identifies you as an individual and is provided to or collected by us.   It includes information that you provide or that we collect from other sources with your permission for example your name, address, birthdate, gender, marital status, employment details, social insurance number, driver's license number, years at current address, claims history, etc.

Why We Ask for your Personal Information :

We want to work with you to obtain your insurance goals and to provide you with value added services on an ongoing basis. The better we know you, the better we can assess your insurable risks and offer the insurance product(s) best suited to your situation.   The information we collect is then forwarded to the appropriate Insurance Company(s) to complete a risk evaluation and establish coverage.

Our Employees Responsibilities :

All of our employees are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all personal information to which they have access. As a condition of their employment our employees sign a confidentiality agreement binding them to this responsibility. We keep our employees informed about our policies and procedures for protecting personal information and reinforce the importance of their compliance.

Accessing Your Personal Information :

Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you would like a copy of the application for insurance policy (ies) that we have on file.

Keeping Your Personal Information Accurate :

We are committed to maintaining the accuracy of your personal information for as long as it is being used for the purposes as set out in this Code.   Prompt notification of any changes such as your address or telephone number will help us provide you with the best possible service and ensure continuation of insurance coverage.

Releasing Your Personal Information :

We have a strict policy not to release personal information about our clients subject to the following exceptions as reviewed below:

• Establishing Insurance coverage.
• Proof of Insurance for Mortgage Companies or Loss Payees.
• When Legally Required by court order of law.

Any health information that you may disclose or provide for insurance purposes is used only for the purpose of evaluating your insurance application. Your information will not be released unless you give us permission.   You may not qualify for life/health insurance products if the appropriate health information is not provided.

Under no circumstances do we sell or give client lists to others for their use.  

Safeguarding and Keeping your Personal Information Confidential :

• We have agreements with all of the Insurance Companies that we represent that any information we provide must be maintained strictly confidential.
• We ensure that the physical, organizational and electronic security of your personal information through the use of locks alarm systems, password access controls, and firewalls.
• We have strict procedures in place when destroying, deleting, or disposing of personal information when it no longer required for the purpose set out in this Code or by law.
• The Buntain Insurance Agencies Ltd. & Dunbar Insurance Agencies Ltd. web site may use information-tracking technologies to improve the functionality of our web site. Please note that the cookies cannot capture files and date stored in your computer.

Retention of Your Personal Information

We only keep your personal information for as long as your file is active. Upon lapsing or cancellation of coverage your file is placed in secured storage until such time as the legal or regulatory requirements require.   After this time, your file will be destroyed.

Direct Marketing:

Occasionally, we will communicate directly with you by mail, telephone, or electronic means to offer your products or services that may be of interest to you.
